1. Trade partner for Jacksonville Jaguars OLB Josh Allen: Carolina Panthers

Atlanta isn’t the only NFC South team that could give the Jaguars a call about Josh Allen. In fact, the Carolina Panthers might be an even better fit for him. Just like their division foe, the Panthers hired a new defensive coordinator, Ejiro Evero in this case.

Evero will be installing a 3-4 defense in Carolina and will need players to run his system. Brian Burns tallied 12.5 sacks last season and linebacker Frankie Luvu posted seven but the Panthers could use another pass rusher.

Just like the Falcons, Carolina needs to address the quarterback position. Sam Darnold isn’t the answer and P.J. Walker is better suited for a backup role, so general manager Scott Fitters will take a dive into free agency or the 2023 NFL draft to find a signal-caller.

Having said that, the Panthers can’t neglect the defensive side of the ball and if they take a quarterback early in the draft, they could inquire about Allen to take care of two of their top needs this offseason.

There are a couple of things that could complicate a deal though. If Carolina selects a quarterback in the first round, they will have to offer a second and maybe a third to the Jaguars in exchange for Allen. An alternative is to give Jacksonville their 2024 first-round selection but there’s a chance other teams offer their first this year. Another factor that could make it difficult for the Panthers to acquire Allen is that they currently have a bit over $7 million in cap space.

While Carolina might not have enough resources to pull off a trade, playing for Evero would make it an intriguing option for Allen and that would be more than enough to get on the phone with the Jags.
