AFC South wide receiver power ranking: Jacksonville Jaguars

52. . . . Jacksonville Jaguars. 1. team

Not often do you see the Jaguars at the top of a power ranking and you could argue that they might be too high in this one but the truth is that they did a better job of replenishing their wide receiver corps than their divison counterparts.

For starters, the Jags already had a few pieces in place. They signed Marvin Jones Jr. last offseason and he went on to lead the team with 73 receptions for 832 yards with four touchdowns. There’s also Laviska Shenault Jr., who is coming off a somewhat down year but should have no trouble bouncing back. Laquon Treadwell is also back on a one-year deal after becoming one of Jacksonville’s top targets in the passing game late in the 2021 season.

But the Jaguars’ brass knew they needed more firepower and went on to sign Christian Kirk and Zay Jones this offseason. Neither of them came cheap but they both should have important roles in 2022. Kirk came close to logging his first 1,000-yard season in 2021 and nothing is stopping him from achieving the feat in Jacksonville.

On the other hand, Jones has amassed 600 or more yards in a season just once since 2017, so there’s a reason to look at his signing with a certain degree of skepticism. Nevertheless, the Jaguars seem to be high on him, so maybe he will turn out to be a solid free-agent acquisition.

The Jaguars don’t have a bonafide No. 1 receiver yet but compared to their AFC South archrivals, they enter the 2022 season with a well-rounded group.
