. . . Quenton Nelson, guard. 56. player. 46

No. 1 AFC South player the Jaguars would like to poach: Quenton Nelson, G

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor was a candidate to land on this list, especially after tallying 332 carries for 1,811 yards and 18 touchdowns last season. Derrick Henry is still the best running back in the AFC but nobody would bat an eye if Taylor claimed that title in 2022.

Having said that, the Jaguars have a couple of capable backs in James Robinson and Travis Etienne. Both are coming off serious injuries but they should give Jacksonville’s offense a boost if they manage to stay healthy.

On the other hand, guard Quenton Nelson is one of the best, if not the best guard in the league. He’s made the Pro Bowl every single year and has earned three First-Team All-Pro selections since Indy drafted him sixth overall in 2018. The Jaguars signed Brandon Scherff in free agency to line up at right guard while Ben Bartch will tentatively start at left guard. The coaching staff is high on Ben Bartch and there’s a chance he solidifies himself in Year 3. But imagine Scherff and Nelson playing in the same offensive line.

The duo of Scherff and Nelson would be able to open running lanes wide enough for a truck to drive through them. Similarly, Trevor Lawrence would have plenty of time to brew a cup of coffee and throw the football. Simply, Jacksonville’s interior offensive line would be one of the best in the NFL.
