3. The Jaguars will win just 7 games in 2022 in spite of all the upgrades.

The Jaguars should be commended for the aggressive approach they’ve taken to upgrade their roster. However, they’ve been so bad, that it will take more than one year to turn things around. For starters, they need to win more than just one division game, a feat that failed to achieve since 2019 and even if they split the series with all their AFC South foes, they will need to face off against the stacked AFC West in 2022.

It wouldn’t be shocking to see the Jags pull off victories against the Detroit Lions, the New York Jets, and the New York Giants (other ascending teams), in 2022. However, they will have a hard time beating teams such as the Dallas Cowboys or the Baltimore Ravens.

All things considered, the Jaguars should play a more discipline and competitive brand of football in 2022. Doug Pederson’s influence should be felt in the first year of his stint in Jacksonville. Also, he will have a positive influence on Trevor Lawrence. Nevertheless, it won’t be enough to finish with a winning record. Then again, the Jags haven’t won more than six games in a season since 2017, so winning seven games would be a step in the right direction.

Would it be nice to see the Jaguars finish the 2022 season with more than eight wins or a trip to the playoffs? Sure, but progress takes time and laying the foundation to consistently win games should be the organization’s top priority this year. If they do it, they can focus on competing for a playoff berth in 2023.

2022 final prediction: 7-10 record.
