No. 2 free agent the Jaguars can sign to fill a need – Christian Kirk, WR.

Here’s another position that will look considerably different than it did a couple of months ago. Had the Green Bay Packers not applied the franchise tag on Davante Adams, he would have been the top receiver in the open market.

Just last week, it looked like Amari Cooper was going to be a cap casualty but the Dallas Cowboys ended up trading him to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a couple of late-round selections. Moreover, they gave Michael Gallup a five-contract worth $62.5 million. Last but not least, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers made sure Chris Godwin will stay with them for at least one more season, tagging him for the second consecutive year. Nevertheless, the Jaguars will still have a few options in free agency and one receiver they have been linked to is Christian Kirk.

Kyle Odegard of Compare.bet reports that the Jags will aggressively pursue Kirk and adds that they could pay him more than $15 million per year. A second-round pick by the Cards in the 2018 draft, the Texas A&M product had a career year in 2021, catching 77 receptions for 982 yards with five touchdowns.

Kirk is more effective in the slot than out wide and isn’t a WR1. If the Jaguars sign him, they would need to either sign another wide receiver in free agency or draft one. Still, Jacksonville’s offense could use his speed and ability to stretch the field.

Other players who deserve consideration – JuJu Smith-Schuster, Allen Robinson, Jarvis Landry (trade), Cedrick Wilson.
