Jaguars mock draft: 3rd round, 65th overall pick – Isaiah Likely, TE.

Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke told the media at the Scouting Combine that the team’s brass was pleased with their tight end group but he added that the position was going to be a focal point this offseason and would certainly look to address it.

Signing Zach Ertz or Dalton Schultz in free agency would make the most sense for Jacksonville but if they decide to address other units, they can use one of their third-round selections to select a tight end. Isaiah Likely of Coastal Carolina should be available at No. 65. Earlier this year, Michelle Brutton of Bleacher Report identified Likely, along with Wisconsin’s Jake Ferguson, as a prospect moving up the draft boards, and a good outing at the Scouting Combine probably helped his case. Bruton believes the former Coastal Carolina Chanticleer can go as early as Day 2 but the third round sounds like a better bet.

Last season, Likely played 13 games and hauled 912 yards with 12 touchdowns. Nate Tice of the B/R scouting department says the tight end needs to work on his pass-blocking technique and his route running but he could become an effective pass-catcher in the NFL.

If healthy, Dan Arnold could get close to 1,000 receiving yards but the Jaguars can’t put all the eggs in one basket and need to bolster their tight end room. Likely could come in and become their TE2 right off the bat.
