No.  Jaguars player who needs to develop in 2022 – Laviska Shenault, WR.

Wide receiver Laviska Shenault was a favorite to have a breakout campaign in 2022 after showing promise the season before. As a rookie, the former Colorado Buffalo showed an ability to create yards after contact, forcing 16 missed tackles, and finished the year with a healthy 58 receptions for 600 yards and five trips to the end zone.

Although Shenault caught 63 receptions (five more than his rookie totals) in 2021, he averaged a measly 9.8 yards per grab and generally failed to make an impact, which would have been nice with fellow wide receiver DJ Chark Jr. missing 13 games. The coaching staff certainly deserves blame for not being able to craft a game plan that maximized Viska’s skillset.

On the other hand, Shenault can certainly play better than he did last year. He wasn’t a drop machine but there were a few catches he could have made that would have given the offense a fresh set of downs.

Of course, the 2021 season is behind and he will have a fresh start under head coach Doug Pederson. The team’s brass might add reinforcements to their wide receiver corps this offseason, so the 2020 second-round pick may need to show he can be a valuable contributor. If Shenault’s struggles were caused by Urban Meyer’s toxic culture, there’s a chance he will pick up where he left off at the end of his rookie campaign and become a key cog in the Jags’ offense in 2022.
