No. 2 wide receiver the Jaguars could trade for – Brandin Cooks.

The Houston Texans could relate to the Jaguars last season due to all the losing both clubs experienced. Sure, the Texans beat Jacksonville twice but they were also shut down twice and looked in worse shape at times. Also, both teams fired their head coach after just one season on the job and already hired someone else, so you could say they have more in common than they think.

Either way, the Texans could be parting ways with several veteran players this offseason in order to acquire more assets and cap relief. Deshaun Watson may get the most inquiries but he may not be the only player Houston might shop this offseason. If wide receiver Brandin Cook is made available — Mike Ginnetti of Spotract believes he will be — there could be a certain degree of demand for his services.

Cooks has been one of the most consistent wide receivers in the league since the New Orleans Saints made him a first-round selection in the 2014 draft but he probably gets lost in the mix because he’s already suited up for four different clubs in his eight-year career. The Oregon State product has topped 1,000 yards in six of those eight seasons, so a lack of talent is definitely not the reason why he’s been traded three times and could be close to a fourth this offseason.

The Las Vegas Raiders probably have a better shot at landing Cook due to his connection to head coach Josh McDaniels but if the Jaguars manage to trade for him, they would weaken a division rival and bolster their wide receiver unit, the proverbial two birds in a bush.
