No. 4 Jaguars player who needs monster offseason – Jawaan Taylor, RT.

When the Jaguars selected right tackle Jawaan Taylor in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, they thought they were getting a mainstay of their offensive line for years to come. But the former Florida Gator hasn’t turned into that player and may be on the fringe ahead of the 2022 season.

See, the Jaguars need to revamp their offensive line, and moving from Taylor seems like a realistic possibility if the front office takes Alabama offensive tackle Evan Neal with the first overall pick in the 2022 draft. They could plug him at either left or right tackle or kick Walker Little to the right side. But the Jags don’t even need to take Neal to give Taylor the boot. The team’s brass can also re-sign Cam Robinson and have Little line up at right tackle. The former Stanford Cardinal showed promise towards the end of the 2021 campaign and the coaching staff can no longer keep in on the sidelines.

Taylor was supposed to make strides in Year 3 but regressed instead, giving up six sacks on 713 pass-blocking snaps and getting flagged a concerning 12 times last season. He did allow 24 fewer pressures than he did in 2020 but that was a pretty low bar to hurdle. Time is running out for the right tackle to show he can be an effective starter and he may have only one more offseason to rest his case.
