No. 2 free agent with ties to Jaguars HC Doug Pederson – Boston Scott.

When healthy, James Robinson can go toe-to-toe with the best running backs in the NFL. However, he’s currently rehabbing from a torn Achilles he suffered late in the 2021 season. In fact, there’s a video of Jaguars players meeting with Doug Pederson and you can see the former Illinois State Redbirds is in crutches. Travis Etienne is also coming off a Lisfranc injury and while he will probably be available for training camp, Jacksonville could add Boston Scott this offseason.

A sixth-round selection by the New Orleans Saints in 2018, Scott was waived before the start of the season and was signed to their practice squad not long after. He joined the Eagles later that year and returned a combined four kicks in the last two games.

Scott had a bigger role in Philly’s offense the following season and has toted the rock 228 times for 992 yards with 13 touchdowns over the last three years. While those numbers aren’t eye-popping, he’s been reliable when called upon and that’s something the Jaguars would surely welcome in their backfield.

Known as the ‘Giant Killer’ due to his success in games against the New York Giants, Scott was arguably more productive than starting running back Miles Sanders in 2021. Sanders had the better average per carry (5.5 to 4.3) but didn’t find the end zone once in the season while Scott scored seven times. The Eagles will most likely try to keep Scott but if he hits the open market, the Jaguars need to consider kicking the tires on him.
