Grading Jaguars’ position groups on offense – Offensive line.

The Jaguars made the decision to bring back their starting offensive line from 2020 thinking that keeping the unit together would help them develop a better rapport, more consistency, and improved on-field performance. One year later, it’s fair to say that the results were mixed.

Left tackle Cam Robinson was slapped with the franchise tag last season. He was arguably the Jags’ most consistent lineman and played better than he had in previous years. He’s set to hit the free-agent market and it’s unknown if the front office plans to keep him around. Starting offensive guards A.J. Cann and Andrew Norwell are also scheduled to hit the open market and their future in Jacksonville is in question after struggling in 2021. Norwell’s play slip down the stretch while Cann missed most of the season after suffering an MCL injury in Week 4.

Right tackle Jawaan Taylor led the team in penalties with 12 and failed to show improvement in his third NFL season. He’s entering a contract year in 2022 and the Jaguars may want to bring in some competition at right tackle in case Taylor keeps trending downwards. On the other hand, rookie offensive tackle Walker Little showed promise towards the end of the year once he joined the starting lineup. It will be interesting to see where the coaching staff plugs him in next season.

Center Brandon Linder showed he still can play at a high level when he’s healthy but he missed nine games in 2021. Primary interior backup Tyler Shatley stepped in his place during his absence while sophomore Ben Bartch did the same for Cann. The Jags’ offensive line could see a lot of turnover this offseason, and it’s hard to tell how the unit will look in Week 1.
