No. 2 Colt that could follow Eberflus to the Jaguars – Justin Houston.

This may feel like cheating because edge rusher Justin Houston wasn’t on the Colts’ roster in 2021 but he played with Matt Eberflus in 2019 and 2020, playing 32 games and logging 69 total tackles, 21 tackles for a loss, 19 sacks, and three forced fumbles.

An All-Pro designation at the peak of his NFL career, Huston is no longer the dominant player he was but can still be effective in a smaller role. Last year, he went unsigned in free agency but ended up joining the Baltimore Ravens when they called. The veteran appear in 61 percent of the defensive snaps and registered 31 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and 32 total pressures.

Houston could join the Jaguars’ defensive line rotations and play a limited number of snaps to increase his productivity. Keep in mind that he can play with his hand on the ground or rush the quarterback from a three-point stance, so he could help Jacksonville regardless of the system they run in 2022.

Pro Football Focus projects Houston will sign a one-year deal worth $7 million in free agency. He can be the kind of veteran player Eberflus could lean on early on to install his vision. The Jags won’t likely get much mileage out of him but they could get one last roar out of this seasoned lion in 2022.
