No. 2 Packer that could follow Hackett to the Jaguars – Kevin King

Whether you approve the job Trent Baalke has done as the general manager of the Jaguars, he deserves credit for finding two starting cornerbacks in 2021, Shaquill Griffin in free agency and Tyson Campbell in the draft.

Having said that, the Jags need to add depth to their cornerback group this offseason. Tre Herndon and Nevin Lawson are set to hit the free-agent market and it’s unlikely that the two will return to Duval. Even if the Jags bring one of them back, they can also sign Kevin King. While the 2017 second-round pick has never played a full season, he could be a solid number three cornerback in Jacksonville.

Injuries notwithstanding, King has been a mainstay of Green Bay’s secondary over the last five years, logging 30 passes defensed, two forced fumbles, and seven interceptions in that span. In the past two years, he has seen his performance drop after snagging five interceptions and allowing a 58.8 percent completion rate in 2019. Nevertheless, he would be an affordable option in free agency if the Jags are looking to bolster their cornerback depth.

Jacksonville has bigger needs this offseason but you can never have enough cornerbacks, that’s why it makes sense to kick the tires on King in free agency. Of course, signing him will be contingent on what the Jaguars do with their own free agents.
