Jaguars player whose stock has plummeted No. 3 – Andre Cisco

Safety, along with left tackle and tight end, was one of the Jaguars’ most pressing needs this past offseason. So what did the team’s brass do to address it? They signed Rudy Ford and Rayshawn Jenkins in the offseason. They also brought back Josh Jones and drafted Andre Cisco in the third round of this year’s selection meeting.

Cisco was one of the top safeties in college football before the start of the 2020 season. However, he suffered an ACL injury that cut his campaign short. That wasn’t the only injury he sustained at Syracuse though. He also had a lower-body injury back in 2019.

Even though Cisco logged 13 interceptions and 14 passes defensed in 24 games, he probably slid in the draft because of injury concerns. However, he’s managed to stay healthy throughout his rookie campaign, which coincidentally makes his lack of playing time a bit concerning.

Heading into the season opener, Jaguars defensive coordinator Joe Cullen told the local media that Wingard and Cisco would alternate snaps but Dewey ended up getting significantly more playing time. Moreover, Cisco’s total snaps on defense went down in Week 2, and has exclusively played on special teams in the last two weeks.

You could argue that Wingard is playing well. But Cisco has the higher ceiling of the two. He could end up getting more snaps later in the season but it’s puzzling that he isn’t seeing the football field even though he’s suited up.
