Jaguars power rankings: Week 4 wasn’t kind to AFC South
The Jacksonville Jaguars could have also landed in this spot
You have to give the Indianapolis Colts credit. Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson was placed on the injury reserve list last Saturday. Also, they overcame a slow start against the Miami Dolphins in Week 5 and earned their first victory of the 2021 season.
Early in the game, Indy struggled to move the ball. However, they got hot near the end of the second quarter and didn’t take their foot off the pedal. While they let the Phins hang around longer than they should have, they manage to put enough points on the board to win. Now, the Dolphins haven’t been great in recent weeks, so don’t bet on the Colts to win the division just yet.
In fact, it’s uncertain if Indianapolis will once again muster more than ten wins after finishing the 2020 season 11-5. Next in their schedule are a Baltimore Ravens team that just beat the previously undefeated Denver Broncos 24-7.
While quarterback Carson Wentz hasn’t been awful, he hasn’t played like the franchise quarterback the Colts expected him to be when they traded for him either. If the second overall pick in 2016 plays like a Pro Bowl-caliber passer, the Colts’ chances of winning in 2021 will increase considerably.
Indy looked like a playoff team last year but they might have a hard time getting back this year. On the other hand, the season is still young and they have plenty of time to turn things around.
