Jacksonville Jaguars vs Arizona Cardinals: Best bets for Week 3
The Jacksonville Jaguars are searching for the first win of the 2021 regular season while the Arizona Cardinals are looking to remain undefeated. Something has to give, right? Keep in mind that the Jags are also riding a 17-game losing streak, and putting an end to it would take a big pressure off their shoulders.
If the Jaguars want to have a chance at pulling the upset, they will need to slow down Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, and their passing game, led by rookie wide receiver Rondale Moore, veteran A.J. Green, and All-Pro DeAndre Hopkins who may or may not play in Week 3. Also, Jacksonville’s defense will need to step up to the occasion. Will the Jags find that spark head coach Urban Meyer talked about in the days preceding the game? It’s hard to tell. For the time being, here are some of the best bets for Week 3, via WynnBET.
The three best bets for the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Week 3 matchup
1. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence’s total passing touchdowns, 1.5 (over +100/under -130)
This is an interesting bet as Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw for three touchdowns in the season opener but only one (and two interceptions) against the Denver Broncos in Week 2. This one could go either way but the over is set at +100. Bet $100 and win $100 for a total payout of $200 Meanwhile, the under is set at -130. This one is a bit safer but the reward isn’t as big. Bet $130 to win $100 for a total payout of $230.
The Cardinals’ defense has allowed four touchdowns in two games, one in the season opener and three in Week 2. Also, the Minnesota Vikings put 33 points on Arizona. If Lawrence plays the way he did the Houston Texans in Week 1, he should have no trouble throwing for two touchdowns, maybe more.
2. Running back James Robinson’s total rushing yards, 46.5 (over/under -115)
In two games, Jaguars running back James Robinson has racked up 16 carries for 72 yards. He got five in Week 1 and 11 carries against Denver. There’s no doubt the coaching staff needs to get him more involved and that may very well happen against the Cardinals.
Jacksonville has struggled to craft a balanced game plan in the last two weeks. They should have that fixed in Week 3. Robinson is averaging 4.5 yards per carry, so he could tot the rock around 11 and 13 times and get over 47 yards without much trouble. The payout isn’t big but it’s as safe as they come.
3. Wide receivers DJ Chark and Marvin Jones scoring at any time (+200)
Marvin Jones Jr. has become one of quarterback Trevor Lawrence’s most trusted targets over the last two games, hauling in 11 receptions for 132 yards. Moreover, he’s scored in both games this year. There’s a good chance he will extend his streak to three games.
On the other hand, DJ Chark Jr. scored in Week 1 and led the Jags in receiving yards with 86 yards. While he didn’t record a touchdown against the Broncos, he scored in the season opener. Either Chark or Jones (or both) could score against the Cardinals but if you are feeling lucky, tight end Jacob Hollister, who will be making his debut with the Black and Teal, has odds of scoring of +350.
