Jacksonville Jaguars: 5 bold predictions for preseason game vs Saints
The Jacksonville Jaguars’ defense will also show out versus the Saints.
4. K’Lavon Chaisson will post a pair of sacks.
The Jaguars surely expected more from EDGE rusher K’Lavon Chaisson when they made him the 20th overall pick in last year’s draft. Alas, the former LSU Tiger logged just one sack in his rookie campaign. On the bright side, he finished the year strong and posted 21 pressures in the last seven games. Heading into the 2021 NFL season, he’s a potential breakout candidate.
Chaisson has now moved to strong linebacker after rushing the passer from with his hand on the ground last year. This should help him become a more productive EDGE defender. Against the Browns, he played 29 snaps, posting a Pro Football Focus grade of 74.9 and one pressure. He will probably earn a similar number of snaps against the Saints. He will also see an uptick in his production and register two sacks.
5. Tyson Campbell will snag an interception.
Rookie cornerback Tyson Campbell took advantage of C.J. Henderson’s absence in training camp and saw a significant amount of time with the Jaguars’ first-team defense. However, the 33rd overall pick in this year’s selection meeting came crashing down in Week 1 of the preseason, giving up a touchdown reception to Browns wide receiver Davion Davis. Not everything was gloom and doom though, as he also registered a pass defensed.
Campbell should get back on track and have a better performance against the Saints. There’s a chance he will see significant time in the slot, as Tre Herndon is week-to-week with an MCL injury. The Georgia product will solidify his spot as the Jags’ nickel cornerback after logging an interception in New Orleans. He’s already displayed the athleticism to compete in the NFL, it’s time for him to show he can also make big plays at the pro level.
