Jacksonville Jaguars players trending up No. 5: QB Trevor Lawrence

You probably knew this pick was coming. The Jaguars will be counting on all their offseason additions to make an impact but no other player will be as important to their success as quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

The Jags happened to hold the first overall pick in the same year the Clemson product was available, so his selection was a no-brainer. The team has searched for a franchise quarterback but they will no longer have to keep looking if Trevor is as good as advertised. While a hamstring injury limited his participation in mandatory minicamp, he has had no restrictions in training camp and has shined.

Lawrence has made all kinds of throws in training camp and hasn’t had an off day yet. By his own admission, he’s working out the kinks and could eventually struggle once it’s time to put the pads and helmet on. Keep in mind that he hasn’t faced a pass rush yet and it will be interesting to see how he fares under pressure.

For the time being, the Jaguars’ are pleased with Lawrence’s development. Furthermore, his teammates have nothing but positive things to say about him and his leadership. For example, linebacker Joe Schobert told the local media that the rookie quarterback’s poise and maturity stand out.

Safety Rayshawn Jenkins also said that Lawrence can make all the throws and is more mobile than he originally thought. All things considered, it seems like the organization made the right call when they made him the top pick in the draft.
