2. Collin Johnson – Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver

Looking at former Jaguars general manager David Caldwell’s track record during his eight-year tenure in Jacksonville, it’s easy to see why he got the boot last year. He left the roster devoid of much talent and was in part responsible for the team’s 1-15 record in 2020. On the other hand, the Jags’ 2020 draft class, his last one in Jacksonville, has the potential to be really good.

Cornerback C.J. Henderson and strong linebacker K’Lavon Chaisson displayed flashes last year. Also, wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. is a candidate to have a breakout season in 2021, and defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton should be part of the defensive line rotation.

While wide receiver Collin Johnson may not be getting as much attention as other Jaguars players ahead of training camp, he could make some serious noise. The Texas product didn’t start a game in 2020 and had limited opportunities in his rookie campaign. However, he made the most of them.

Johnson caught four receptions for 96 yards and one touchdown against the Cleveland Browns in Week 12. The following game, he caught four passes (again) for 66 yards. Furthermore, he posted a Pro Football Focus overall grade of 73.4 last season, the highest among Jaguars wideouts.

The Texas product will compete with veteran Phillip Dorsett II for the fourth receiver spot in training camp. Jaguars legend Jimmy Smith believes fans should watch out for Johnson, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see him beat Dorsett and have a big impact in 2021.
