4. The Jacksonville Jaguars will trade quarterback Gardner Minshew.

There’s no doubt Trevor Lawrence is and will be the Jaguars’ starting quarterback for the foreseeable future, barring injuries. However, Gardner Minshew II is still on the roster. If feels like yesterday when the Washington State product took the league by surprise and Minshewmania was a thing. The 2019 sixth-round pick play well in his rookie campaign, completing 69.0 percent of his passes for 3,271 yards with 21 passing touchdowns and six interceptions.

Heading into the 2020, Minshew had the chance to seize the starting job but he came crashing down and was promptly benched. Yes, he concealed a thumb injury that might’ve played a factor in his drop in performance but the truth is that he didn’t do enough to show he was the long-term answer at the position.

Minshew is currently behind Lawrence on the depth chart, but he wants a chance to compete for a starting job. Before the draft, teams called the Jaguars to inquire about the former Cougar’s availability. However, Urban Meyer said they didn’t plan to move him at the time.

At this moment, it wouldn’t make sense for the Jaguars to deal the third-year quarterback. They need insurance in case Lawrence misses time with injuries. He’s one of the top backup quarterbacks in the league and has starting experience. Also, he’s still on his rookie deal which makes Minshew a hot commodity.

However, teams will keep inquring about him as the season gets closer. There are several squads that could use an upgrade at quarterback and will end up caving to the Jaguars’ demands. Minshew is worth more than fourth-round pick and that’s the price someone will end up paying to acquire the signal-caller.
