1. Will the Jacksonville Jaguars move from Taven Bryan this offseason?

No list of Jaguars players on the fringe could be complete without defensive tackle Taven Bryan. It seems like the coaching staff wants to see what the Florida product can do but he’s running out of chances to make an impact in Jacksonville. The 29th overall pick in 2018’s draft has been a non-factor over his three-year career. He’s appeared in 48 games with 17 starts and has logged 71 total tackles, 11 tackles for a loss, and 3.5 sacks. That’s simply not the kind of production you expect from a first round.

Hindsight is 20/20 but making Bryan’s selection worse is the fact that the Jags could have drafted players such as Lamar Jackson and Darius Leonard with that pick. Last season, the former Gator saw the field because Jacksonville didn’t have anyone else. Then-rookies DaVon Hamilton and Doug Costin showed flashes but missed time with injuries. Had they managed to stay healthy, Bryan’s playing time might’ve gone down considerably.

The Jaguars traded for Malcom Brown and drafted Jay Tufele. Also, Hamilton and Costin will compete for playing time. This will make it difficult for Bryan to earn a roster spot. He has a clean slate with the new regime, but that could be a double-edged sword. On one hand, he’s got a fresh opportunity. On the other hand, they don’t have an attachment to the defensive tackle, so they can easily move on from him since he’s a holdover from the previous staff. Let’s see how this one plays out but his time in Jacksonville could be coming to an end.
