OT Penei Sewell would fortify the Jacksonville Jaguars’ O-Line.

Penei Sewell would have been a great addition to the Jaguars’ offensive line but there was no way they were going to draft someone other than Trevor Lawrence. Jacksonville could have made the Oregon product the first overall pick in this year’s draft but they would have passed up the chance to choose their quarterback of the future. Think about it, this was the first time the Jags held the top pick in the selection meeting and they were going to select a right tackle? Also, the last time they took an offensive lineman in the top 2 of the draft, it didn’t go well.

However, let’s imagine for a moment, the Jaguars somehow find a way to land both Lawrence and Sewell, their offense would be young but full of upside. The former Duck was the consensus offensive tackle in this year’s draft. He’s making the transition from left to right tackle. Although Sewell says that switching sides is “not that easy“, there’s no doubt he will play at a high level once gets a good grasp of his new position.

The Jaguars expect Cam Robinson to show he’s the long-term answer at left tackle after applying the franchise tag on him early this offseason. Even though there’s a chance the 2017 second-round pick finally turns the corner in 2021, he’s been inconsistent throughout his four-year career. Meanwhile, Sewell has a high ceiling and could bring some stability to Jacksonville’s offensive line.
