Urban Meyer has the Jacksonville Jaguars on the right path.

Urban Meyer was also asked about linebacker Myles Jack and he didn’t mince words. While he talked about some areas where he could improve, he also spoke candidly of the 2016 second-round pick. He said that Jack was a little overweight. However, he says that he lost that weight as soon as he was told and has been an “A plus” in the locker room.

Meyer also described Jack as an alpha leader and pointed out that he needs to perform at a high level precisely because he’s a key cog on the Jaguars’ defense, ‘does he have to play better? Yeah, a lot of the core players have to’. The head coach said that he has had similar conversations with other players about changes they have to make and said that everyone has been very receptive to the feedback.

Center Brandon Linder recently talked about how players are getting the best to perform at the highest level. Meyer is taking the right approach. He’s been demanding but he’s also showing he cares about his players. He’s not a screamer but he isn’t lenient either. He asks his coaches and the players themselves for suggestions.

It will be interesting to see how Meyer will keep this Jacksonville team motivated once the season begins. What buttons will he push if the losses start to pile up? What if the Jaguars are on a winning streak  How will he keep everyone hungry? The head coach is making things interesting in Duval.
