Trevor Lawrence will help the Jacksonville Jaguars win more games in 2021.

Watching the Jaguars lose 15 straight games wasn’t a pleasant sight. Nevertheless, their inability to win last season helped clinch the first overall pick in 2021’s draft. Moreover, they earned the top selection in the same year Trevor Lawrence was available. Think about it, it’s great to have the chance to pick the best player in a pool of more than 250 prospects, but it’s not good when there are many enticing options.

Do you remember the 2013 draft? The best player that year was left tackle Eric Fisher, who has gone on to have a solid career but isn’t an All-Pro talent in the mold of Tony Boselli, Orlando Pace, or Joe Thomas. To add insult to injury, there was only one quarterback drafted in the first round that year, E.J. Manuel, and he’s already out of the league.

Looking back, the Jaguars found themselves in the perfect draft storm and now have the most talented quarterback prospect since Andre Luck. Even though they have drafted other quarterbacks in the first round (Blaine Gabbert and Byron Leftwich), they had never had the first overall pick nor the opportunity to take someone as talented as Lawerence, who should be their starting quarterback on Day 1.

The Jaguars have a talented wide receiver corps and a dynamic running back tandem, but more importantly, they have a quarterback that will be able to take advantage of all of them.
