The Jacksonville Jaguars got the best quarterback of the draft.

5) Five quarterbacks were taken in the first round.

The consensus was that the first three picks of the draft were going to be quarterbacks after the 49ers moved up to the third spot, but it was uncertain how the rest of the first round was going to unfold. In the end, five signal-callers got their name called in the first round. The Chicago Bears took Justin Fields with the 11th overall pick and the New England Patriots drafted Mac Jones 15th overall.

Based on the success rate of previous first-round picks, it’s a fact some of these quarterback prospects will flop, but who will it be? It’s hard to tell, but the Jaguars got the best of the bunch and the one with the most chances to succeed in the NFL. Looking back, it might not have been that bad to lose 16 consecutive games in 2020 and clinch the first overall pick this year.

6) Kyle Pitts was the only tight end drafted in the first round.

As great as Kyle Pitts would’ve looked in Black and Teal, it was always unrealistic to trade up in order to draft him. On the bright side, Pat Freiermuth and Bryven Jordan are still on the board, so if the Jaguars want to use one of their two second-round selection on the tight end position, they’re going to have options.

The Jaguars want to build their offense around Trevor Lawrence. They already have a talented wide receiver corps and an outstanding running back room, they now need a playmaker at tight end.
