4. The Jacksonville Jaguars won’t take a pass rusher in the first three rounds.

There are many reasons why the Jaguars won’t take a pass rusher early in the draft and here are all of them. First, they re-signed Adam Gotsis and Dawuane Smoot this offseason and signed Roy Robertson-Harris and Jihad Ward in free agency.

You can rightfully point out that both Gotsis and Smoot will be part of Jacksonville’s defensive line rotation, not their main rushers. Also, it’s unlikely Roberston-Harris and Ward will play a high volume of snaps, but that’s because the Jags already have Josh Allen and sophomore K’Lavon Chaisson.

Allen was a Pro Bowler in his rookie campaign, appearing in all 16 games and logging 44 total tackles, 11 tackles for a loss, 10.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles in 2019. Had not dealt with a knee injury last season, he might’ve had similar production. Fully healthy in 2021, the Kentucky standout should pick up where he left off.

On the other hand, Chaisson struggled early in the 2020 season but fished on a high note. The coaching staff surely likes his potential and they will try to unlock it. While he isn’t a proven commodity, don’t be surprised if he breaks out and turns in 2021 into the playmaker he was in LSU.
