Jaguars draft: Ranking top 10 offensive guards in 2021 NFL Draft
Will the Jacksonville Jaguars use an early-round pick on a guard?
Other than Jackson Carman all these offensive guard prospects could get their names called in the first two rounds of the draft.
5. Jackson Carman, Clemson
Although Jackson Carman needs to be more consistent in pass blocking, he has the size and the aggressiveness to play guard in the pros. He started 27 consecutive games at left tackle in the last two years and but might be a better fit at guard in the NFL.
4. Deonte Brown, Alabama
At 6’4″ and 350 pounds, Deone Brown is a massive guard. Even though he’s not quick, he takes advantage of his size and has experience playing both guard positions. He might need to lose weight in the pros in order to be more effective and would be an interesting pickup in the second half of the second round.
3. Jalen Mayfield, Michigan
Jalen Mayfield mostly lined up at right tackle during his collegiate career, but he has the tools to make a successful transition to guard in the NFL. He needs to work on his technique but he’s only 20 years old and has a high ceiling.
2. Wyatt Davis, Ohio State
Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports believes the Jaguars could take Wyatt Davis with the 33rd overall pick. The Ohio State product has superb athleticism and strength and his technique doesn’t require much refinement. He could compete for a starting job right out of the gate.
1. Alijah Vera-Tucker
Alijah Vera-Tucker played left tackle in 2020 after lining up at guard the previous two seasons. He has outstanding balance and awareness and may be the only guard drafted in the first round in 2021. The USC standout might be the offensive guard prospect with the highest ceiling in the draft.
