The Jacksonville Jaguars also need to keep revamping their defensive line.

The Jaguars did a good job of adding talent to their defensive line this offseason. While Tyson defensive lineman Alualu ended up changing his mind and re-signed with the Pittsburth Steelers after originally agreeing to contract, the team made a few key additions. Mainly, they traded for defensive tackle Malcom Brown, who has appeared in 89 games with 80 starts over his six-year career.

Also, the Jags have a couple of promising defensive tackles Doug Costin and DaVon Hamilton. Both of them should be part of the defensive line rotation and will likely compete for a starting job. Nevertheless, it wouldn’t hurt to add a young defensive tackle in the draft and Daviyon Nixon makes sense in the third round.

A three-star recruit out of high school, Nixon started his college career at Iowa Western Community College and later transferred to Iowa. There, he appeared in 21 games and registered 74 total tackles, 19 tackles for a loss, 8.5 sacks and one interception in a two-year span.

Nixon has an explosive first step and uses his hands well to shed blocks. On the other hand, he may be a bit light for the NFL and will have to bulk up. Also, he still needs to work on diagnosing plays better, which is something he could do behind Brown, Hamilton and Costin.

This isn’t a particularly strong defensive tackle class and other Alabama’s Christian Barmore might be the only one with a first-round grade. In fact, they could get better value at the position in the third round.
