WR Marqise Lee

Marqise Lee was drafted out of USC by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the second round (39th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft. The Jaguars needed a young wide receiver to pair with their new quarterback in Bortles, but a few seasons later and neither remains with the team.

Lee didn’t have a major impact on the team and contributed low numbers but the Jaguars decided to give him a four-year contract extension in 2018 anyways. Unfortunately, after suffering two knee injuries in a row, Lee was released by the team in April 2020.

Soon after, Lee signed a contract with the New England Patriots but after opting out of the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he was released. Now, he’s looking for his chance to be an NFL wide receiver again.

FS Tashaun Gipson

Tashaun Gipson became a starting safety for the Jaguars in 2016 after spending the previous four seasons with the Cleveland Browns.

He signed with the Browns after going undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft. In Cleveland, he had 14 interceptions for 324 yards, two touchdowns, and 240 tackles in 50 games. During his three years in Jacksonville, he started all 48 games with Jacksonville and had six interceptions and 159 tackles.

Gipson’s release in March 2019 was the result of salary cap issues as the Jaguars desperately needed to create space. He then spent a year with the Houston Texans before starting all 16 games for the Chicago Bears last season.

Gipson is a solid safety who could bring an imperative veteran presence to a team with a young secondary.
