Jaguars can steal these 3 free agents from AFC South
Justin Houston can boost the Jacksonville Jaguars’ pass rush.
Anthony Treash of Pro Football Focus believes the Jaguars should sign Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton in free agency. However, there may be better wide-receiver options in the open market and should target defensive end Justin Houston instead.
Head coach Urban Meyer is right this Jacksonville team needs to upgrade their defensive front. Last season, their front four were managed just 12.5 sacks. Meanwhile, Houston logged eight quarterback takedowns in 2020 and 11 the season before. Although the Georgia product isn’t the player he was when he registered 22 sacks in 2014, he can still generate pressure at the line of scrimmage.
Even though there will be younger defensive ends available in the open market, Houston could be the perfect complement for Josh Allen and K’Lavon Chaisson. The four-time Pro Bowl nod wouldn’t have to play every down in Jacksonville, which could increase his effectiveness as a pass rusher.
After playing 719 snaps in 2018, Houston’s playing time has decreased in the last two years and appeared in 608 snaps last season. He could thrive in that kind of role in the Jaguars’ defensive line.
