The Jacksonville Jaguars could target Trevor Lawrence’s teammate.

Running backs are an important part of any offense but it just doesn’t make much sense for a team to draft one in the first round, as teams get a quality one in later rounds. Heck, James Robinson went undrafted last year, and just three of the top ten rushing leaders in 2020 were taken in the first round. On the other hand, Derrick Henry and Dalvin Cook, the top running backs in 2020 were drafted in the second round.

Let’s say Najee Harris is the only running back drafted in the first round, the Jaguars would have a shot at taking Travie Etienne with the first pick in the second round. The Lousiana native ran for over 1,600 yards in back-to-back seasons before failing to crack the 1,000-yard mark in 2020. However, he showed he can be an asset in the passing game, hauling in a career-high 48 receptions for 588 yards with two touchdowns while averaging 12.3 yards per receptions.

Harris told Safid Deen of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel he believes whoever drafts him is going to get their money’s worth and someone that ‘can be out there each and every down with the ability to play special teams.

The Jaguars don’t need Etienne to play on every down, as they already have a workhorse running back in Robinson. However, his ability to contribute on special teams could entice the Jaguars to draft him.
