2. Washington Football Team

If the Washington Football Team hadn’t been held back by their revolving door at the quarterback position, they could’ve made some noise in 2020’s postseason instead of being a one-and-done squad. They had a solid running back in Antonio Gibson and a stud in wide receiver Terry McLaurin. Moreover, their defense ranked fourth in points allowed and their front four was one of the most talented in the league.

They knew Dwayne Haskins wasn’t the answer at quarterback and they released him in the middle of the 2020 season. Alex Smith’s journey back from a devasting leg injury is worth praise but he’s not the answer at the position and Kyle Allen may be better suited in a backup.

Washington currently holds the 19th overall pick in 2021’s draft and may miss out on the chance to draft any of this year’s top quarterback prospects if they stay put. Trading for Gardner Minshew could give them stability at the quarterback position and a fallback in case they are unable to trade up.

The team went toe-for-toe with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Super Bowl 55 champions, in the Wild Card Round with Tyler Heinicke at the helm. They could quickly turn into a playoff team with better quarterback play, which could prompt them to kick the tires on Minshew.
