Scouting the NFC North: 3 Packers FAs Jacksonville Jaguars should target
Kevin King can start at cornerback for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Cornerback Kevin King made some noise in 2019 when he logged 66 total tackles, 15 passes defensed, and five interceptions in 15 games. Heading into the 2020 season, expectations surrounding the 2017 second-round pick but he wasn’t able to replicate the success he had the year before.
King started 11 games in 2020 and registered 57 total tackles, five pass deflections, and no interceptions. The decrease in production was noticeable but it doesn’t mean he had a bad year, his performance simply was as good as it had been in 2019. Even though he failed to snag an interception, he was solid in coverage and allowed just one touchdown on 57 targets.
The Jaguars have a starting cornerback in sophomore C.J. Henderson, but it’s uncertain who will play opposite of him in 2021. Greg Mabin, Sidney Jones, and D.J. Hayden are all set to become free agents and it’s unclear if any of them will be back with the team.
While Jones may be worth re-signing, this Jacksonville team should also add a cornerback in free agency. They can’t go into the season without depth at the position and King could end up becoming an impact player for the Jaguars.
