Could the Jacksonville Jaguars add another running back?

Even though the Jaguars need to add talent to most of their position groups, there are a few that may not need as much attention to others. Their linebacker corps is one of them and their wide receiver corps is rather solid heading into the 2021 season. However, the one that might require the least help is their running back room.

Undrafted free agent James Robinson took off in his rookie campaign and quickly established himself as one of the best running backs in the NFL. If anything, Jacksonville may need to get him a good backup, but what if the team wants to build a two-headed monster? If that’s something they want to do, they could target Travis Etienne early in the draft.

The Clemson product is one of the best running back prospects of this year’s class. In fact, don’t be surprised if he gets his name called before Najee Harris on draft night. He has all the traits of an elite running back, explosiveness, straight-line speed, and great body control.

Moreover, he excels at catching the ball in the backfield, which could add another dimension to the Jaguars’ offense. He finished his collegiate career with 686 carries for 4,952 yards and 70 rushing touchdowns and added 102 catches for 1,155 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.

Due to the positional value of the running back position in the NFL, Etienne may still be on the board when Jacksonville picks at number 25th and even at 33rd. If he’s still there early in the second round, he could give the ‘Jags’ something to think about.
