Carl Lawson can give the Jacksonville Jaguars’ front four a boost.

The Jaguars need to invest in their front four if they want to pressure opposing quarterbacks and stop teams from running over them. Last season, their defense couldn’t stop teams from scoring at ease and their defensive line’s inability to generate pressure at the line of scrimmage played a big role.

Defensive end K’Lavon Chaisson should be better in his sophomore campaign and the ‘Jags’ should get 2019 Pro Bowl defensive end Josh Allen back. However, their front four would welcome reinforcements and the team could target defensive end Carl Lawson in free agency.

Originally a fourth-round selection in 2017, the Auburn product never had a feature role on the Bengals defense until last year when he started 11 games. He logged 8.5 sacks and eight tackles for loss in his rookie year but missed the second half of the 2018 season with a torn ACL.

Lawson has registered 10.5 sacks in the last two seasons and amassed 64 pressures and 24 hits in 2020. Also, he finished fifth in ESPN’s Created Sacks metric, behind playmakers such as Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald, Chicago Bears outside linebacker Khalil Mack and Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garret.
