Richard Sherman could provide a veteran voice to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The ‘problem’ of assembling a formidable is that it’s difficult to keep it together for a long time due to free agency. Players that were originally on a rookie contract will eventually hit the open market and look for a payday.

Even if some of them accept the proverbial ‘hometown’ discount, there’s simply not enough money or cap space to keep all of them. Cornerback Richard Sherman has been part of two formidable defenses and knows the game of football is a business. After missing time with a calf injury in 2020, he is ready to become a free agent for the second time in his ten-year career.

Sherman, who coined the famous ‘Legion of Boom’ nickname back with the Seattle Seahawks, is not the player he was when he was named First-Team All-Pro for three consecutive years. Nevertheless, he is still one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL and allowed 43 passes on 69 targets for 368 yards and just one touchdown as recently as 2019.

Even though Sherman wouldn’t be the long-term solution for Jacksonville’s cornerback woes, he could help solidify the unit and provide a veteran voice in the locker room.
