Xavier Rhodes could start on the Jacksonville Jaguars’ secondary.

The ‘Jags’ have plenty of cap space and 11 draft picks. However, they also have plenty of needs and most of their position groups could benefit from an infusion of talent. Cornerbacks Sidney Jones, Greg Tobin, and D.J. Hayden are set to become unrestricted free agents, so the team may want to prioritize the position in free agency.

Xavier Rhodes is going to be one of the best cornerbacks to hit the open market this offseason and the demand for his services will likely be high. After a subpar 2019 season, he signed a one-year $3 million ‘prove-it’ deal last offseason with the intention of rehabilitating his career.

The move worked, as the former Minnesota Viking cornerback allowed just 52 percent of passes thrown his way in 2020 after giving up an 81.5 completion rate in 2019. He started all 16 games this past season and logged 42 total tackles, 12 passes defensed, and two interceptions.

Moreover, the 2013 first-round selection has stayed healthy throughout his career and has missed just five games in the last seven years. If the Jaguars want to sign a cornerback to start opposite of C.J. Henderson, they should target Rhodes.
