The Jacksonville Jaguars could present the perfect storm for Ed Dodds.

If Dodds has already declined to interview for a general manager opening, why would he consider leading the Jaguars front office? It’s simple, this Jacksonville team isn’t currently very good, but it has a few talented players in place and the resources to undergo an aggressive turnaround in the offseason.

The ‘Jags currently have 11 selections at their disposal, including the first overall, in 2021’s draft and $77.61 million in cap space. Moreover, cornerback C.J. Henderson and defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton could become building blocks along with veterans such as linebacker Myles Jack, center Brandon Linder, and rookie running back superstar James Robinson.

The team’s wide receiver corps is in solid shape, so it would be a matter of using its assets on playmakers. The fact the Jaguars hold the first overall pick, which they could use to draft Trevor Lawrence, should also lure candidates, Dodds included.

Another thing that could attract the Colts assistant general manager could be the opportunity to choose his own head coach, one that shares his vision. Basically, the ‘Jags’ can offer Dodds the ability to build the team the way he sees fit.

This is going to be a crucial year for the Jaguars. They need to get their general manager hiring right if they want to become relevant again, and Dodd could help them get out of the cellar of the AFC South.
