10 Jacksonville Jaguars that need to step up versus Bears
The Jacksonville Jaguars need to control the line of scrimmage.
Defensive tackle Daniel Ekuele was promoted to the active roster on September 28, and saw the football field 10 days later when the Jaguars played the Houston Texans in Week 9. Even though he didn’t get significant playing time the following three games, he has started the last three due to an injury DaVon Hamilton sustained.
In that span, Ekuele has registered nine tackles. The Bears’ running offense ranks 24th in total yards and 30th in scoring, and if the Jaguars’ defense wants to contain them, Ekuele will have to have a good game.
The Jaguars offensive tackles have been inconsistent in 2020, something that doesn’t bode well for Jawaan Taylor heading into Week 16. The right tackle will lineup against Bears outside linebacker Khalil Mack, who is one of the best in the NFL at generating pressure at the line of scrimmage.
This season, Mack has logged 44 total tackles, eight sacks, three pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and one interception. Meanwhile, Taylor has allowed eight sacks and five hits in 2020. Mack is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game, but he may end up dressing up, so Taylor has to be ready to take on the All-Pro linebacker.
