4 Jacksonville Jaguars that we can already call busts
What were the Jacksonville Jaguars thinking?
Many of the players the Jaguars selected early in the draft may not be playmakers but will surely have a productive career. Left tackle Cam Robinson comes to mind. He may be inconsistent and the team may or may not re-sign him in the offseason. Nevertheless, he will get paid by Jacksonville or someone else.
The same isn’t true for defensive tackle Taven Bryan who has had plenty of time and given plenty of opportunities to distinguish himself but hasn’t been able to capitalize on any of them. After three years, he hasn’t been able to justify the Jaguars’ decision to use the 28th overall selection in 2018’s draft on the Florida product.
Bryan didn’t choose where he would get drafted, and it’s unlikely he’s happy with his performance, but he isn’t getting it done. This season, he got outplayed by a couple of rookies, DaVon Hamilton and Doug Costin. Had they not gotten injured, Bryan would have probably stayed on the bench.
The only reason he’s still getting playing time is that the Jaguars don’t have anybody else to turn to, but once they do, they will look for a way to part ways with him. At this point of his career, it seems like Bryan has already reached his ceiling and there is point in keeping him around.
