Josh McDaniels’ resume should scare the Jacksonville Jaguars away.

Nobody will deny the fact Bill Belichick is one of the best head coaches in NFL history. He’s been so good that other teams pouched his coaching staff in other to replicate his success. However, his assistants haven’t had much success once they leave New England, and more often than not, they have flopped when they have been given head coaching jobs.

Josh McDaniels has been Belichick’s right-hand man for the last few years and has helped the head coach put some creative offenses in place. However, the New England offensive coordinator crashed and burned when he became the Denver Broncos head coach in 2009. Ultimately, his inability to get along with anybody and alienate his players forced the organization to part ways with him after only two years.

The following year, McDaniels became the Rams offensive coordinator but didn’t have much success once again. He would eventually return to the Patriots coaching staff, where he’s been since 2012. Looking at his resume, he’s hasn’t had much success outside Foxborough.

Although McDaniels has been responsible for tweaking his system to accommodate quarterback Cam Newton’s strengths in 2020 and is a fine coordinator, it’s unlikely he will thrive as a head coach.
