Melvin Ingram could become a key cog for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

This Jacksonville team could sign a veteran defensive end such as Justin Houston or Ryan Kerrigan. They are both set to become free agents in the offseason and will likely garner interest. However, they won’t be the only players worth a look in 2021.

Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Melvin Ingram will likely be a free agent to and if that’s the case, the Jaguars should target him. The three-time Pro Bowler isn’t an elite player and may not be in his prime anymore. However, he brings plenty of value to the table.

In his nine-year career, Ingram has registered 265 total tackles, 49 sacks, 14 forced fumbles, and three interceptions. He’s the kind of contributor that won’t be among the best at what he does but is key to a team’s success.

Ingram’s season is done for the season, as the ‘Bolts’ have placed him on the Injured Reserved list with a knee injury per Daniel Popper of The Athletic. This is the second time the defensive end has been placed on the list this year, and a player can only be activated off once in 2020.

This wasn’t a good year for Ingram. Besides the fact he had to deal with injuries, he had just registered 10 total tackles and no sacks. In the past five seasons, he recorded at least seven interceptions, so this season could be an anomaly and not the start of a trend.
