Round 5, Pick 157: Daniel Thomas, Safety, Auburn

Okay, they’re back on track. Daniel Thomas is a solid defensive back and ran a 4.51 40 at the combine. He’ll provide depth and probably add to special teams. Right value and another position in need of help. A hit with this one.

Round 5, Pick 165: Collin Johnson, Wide Receiver, Texas

Like I have stated above, there were more pressing needs for the team. Collin Johnson may earn a spot on special teams and be a reserve pass catcher, but he’s not likely to be among the five wide receivers in the rotation. This is a borderline hit.

Round 6, Pick 189: Jake Luton, Quarterback, Oregon St.

Jake Luton is a taller Gardner Minshew with a stronger arm. He had 17 touchdowns and only three interceptions his senior year. It would have been interesting to see him on a team with more talent because he has a natural, effortless release.

This one is a hit, but when does he get a chance to see the field?

Round 6, Pick 206: Tyler Davis, Tight End, Georgia Tech

This is another position that needs depth, but Tyler Davis needs time to develop. He’ll serve as a backup and possible special teams player. The Jaguars could have a hit with this one if he is given time to develop.

Round 7, Pick 223: Chris Claybrooks, Cornerback, Memphis

Another defensive back?  Chris Claybrooks will be a special teams player. The right value at the spot, but they didn’t address another need. A swing and a miss.
