Antoine Winfield Jr. S, Minnesota

The son of three-time Pro Bowler and 14-year NFL, veteran Antoine Winfield Sr., Antoine Winfield Jr. is an undersized Safety prospect but makes up for it with his explosiveness and tackling prowess. He battled injuries during his time at Minnesota but is now healthy and looking to prove he can be a mainstay in an NFL secondary.

He is the most unlikely of the three safety prospects to be selected due to his size but should the Jacksonville Jaguars select him they will not have to worry about missed tackles from him in the secondary as long as he is on the field. Due to injury concerns, there’s a chance he falls to the third round which would be fantastic value for Caldwell and the Jaguars to capitalize on.

While the Jacksonville Jaguars could possibly look to tackle the offensive side of the draft on Day 2 with some combination of WR/RB, the Jaguars in the past have looked at Day 2 to attack value. My official prediction for what I think the Jaguars will do is trade up in the second round to draft Michael Pittman WR, USC, and to give Gardner Minshew a contested-catch weapon.

However, the Jaguars should look to select one of the three safeties mentioned if they want to add a playmaker that can bring back big-play potential to a secondary that is looking to claw its way back to prominence in the NFL.
