Grant Delpit, S, LSU

Ranks 14th on Daniel Jeremiah’s Best Available

Grant Delpit is the epitome of a Caldwell pick.

He is a long, athletic playmaker from the SEC. He had a down year in 2019 compared to his huge 2018 season, but this seemed due to tackling issues and questions regarding his effort. However, after the selection of C.J. Henderson in the First Round, I believe the Jaguars value playmaking/coverage above everything else.

Another SEC player in the second round would make it the third year in a row the Jaguars Have done so (Cam Robinson 2017, DJ Chark 2018, Jawaan Taylor 2019). Occasionally mocked to the Jaguars at pick 20 throughout the draft season, getting Delpit in the second round would give the Jaguars a two-headed monster at safety with Ronnie Harrison  (6’3”, 207 lbs) and Delpit (6’2”, 213 lbs).

Delpit would be my pick in the second round hands down.
