1,600-yard season
We saw how explosive Fournette can be and literally carry the team on his back in the come-from-behind win over the Denver Broncos in Week 4 of the 2019 season.
The 225 yards that day were the most of his career and showed fans he can be the thoroughbred he was thought to be after leaving college. The fact Fournette became the team’s new third-down back also proved he could stay healthy and work through the rigors of a long NFL season.
The only game he missed was the finale against Indianapolis due to the flu.
Head coach Doug Marrone emphasized this week he wants to see the offensive line do a better job this coming season, which means the front five must open holes for the running game up the middle. Fournette did a better job running to the left side last season behind tackle Cam
Robinson and guard Andrew Norwell than he did on the right side or up the middle.
Also, if Fournette is going to reach 1,600 yards in 2020, new offensive coordinator Jay Gruden will need to install a gameplan where the pass sets up the run. The Jaguars were the NFL’s best running team in 2017. Getting back to that kind of attack will benefit the lead runner.
