Wearing the “C” Again

It was a bit shocking to see Leonard Fournette selected as one of the team’s captains prior to the 2018 season. A second-year player usually doesn’t have that honor given to him. All Fournette did was miss seven full games due to injury and one to a suspension where he came off the bench in a loss to Buffalo and got into a fight.

Cooler head certainly prevailed in 2019.

Despite missing time from OTAs and having the local media question his desire to play in Jacksonville, a leaner Fournette responded in training camp by looking faster and more disciplined than the previous season. And once the season started, there was a commitment to making himself a better football player.

The “real” Fournette out himself in a position to become of the better running backs in the NFL. It’s possible his work off the field and preparation on the field last year will once again win over the locker room and he could be selected as one of the team’s captains.

With Calais Campbell and A.J. Bouye having been traded, Fournette will once again have to assume a leadership role on a much younger team in 2020.
