Josh McCown will have passer rating above 70: FICTION

Josh McCown has been in the league since 2002. He’s played in 85 games for 8 different teams since them and he’s compiled a paltry 78.7 pass rating for his career.

So far in three games with the New York Jets, McCown has thrown 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions resulting in a decent 91.3 passer rating. This has come against the Buffalo Bills, Oakland Raiders, and Miami Dolphins.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say the Jacksonville Jaguars sport a significantly better defense than those three teams.

Josh McCown is by no means the worst quarterback in the league, but he certainly isn’t very good. And to even deflect some of the blame away from him, he doesn’t have any playmakers around him. Jermaine Kearse, a Seattle Seahawks castoff, is his best receiver and the offense will be without (an aged) Matt Forte this Sunday.

McCown should play better than Joe Flacco did last week just because he statistically can’t play any worse, but he’s not going to have a good game. The Jaguars should be able to harass McCown and get him to make a few mistakes.
