Dante Fowler Jr. will have a sack: FACT

After being the talk of training camp thanks to a few impressive vines of his individual drills and some very high praise by the coaching staff, Dante Fowler Jr. has been underwhelming in actual game action. He did virtually nothing of note in the preseason and technically didn’t start in week 1 (Yannick Ngakoue as listed as the starting LEO against the Packers). Fowler still got a decent amount of snaps in week 1, but he didn’t have a discernible impact as a pass rusher. Fowler needs to be more than a good run defender – he needs to harass the quarterback on a consistent basis.

"Week 1 stats: 3 tackles Fowler shows no problems coming off ACL surgery. He was unblockable in early training-camp practices. He has been in a little bit of a funk of late and is being pushed by the coaches. He might not be a 10-sack player this year, but six or seven sacks coming off his injury is doable."

Fowler should be able to do that this week against a less-than-stellar Chargers offensive line that let Philip Rivers get harassed by the Kansas City Chiefs. The Jaguars seem intent on moving Fowler around and scheming him into favorable situations so don’t be surprised if you see him rushing quite often from the interior. Fowler will get his first career sack this week, perhaps even more, and help the Jaguars keep Rivers in check.
