. TE. Ohio State. Nick Vannett. 69. player. 52

Nick Vannett’s position as the 69th best overall on Gil Brandt’s draft board is not particularly beneficial for the Jacksonville Jaguars’ focus on the defense. The tight end position is fairly well set for the 2016 season with Julius Thomas starting and longtime Jag Marcedes Lewis backing him up.

Still, the future of the position behind Thomas is anything but settled and Vannett does offer an intriguing option for the future.

NFL Mocks’ draft profile is high on Vannett because of his upside, with writer Sayre Bedinger saying:

"We have seen soft hands, we have seen run after the catch ability, and of course — more than anything — we’ve seen his ability to block, both in the running game and in the passing game."

If the Jags were to not pick defense, they could do a lot worse than landing Vannett. He could be a strong addition to the team.
